CBD isolate is made from hemp, specifically the flower. It is a white, powdery substance that contains pure CBD.
When the plants reach maturity, they undergo extraction processes to separate the different compounds and CBD is one of them. CBD is isolated from the other cannabinoids, resulting in a final product of 99.9% CBD. The THC is removed from the plant, along with waxes, chlorophyll, terpenes and any other flavonoids that occur naturally in the plant.
There are a few steps to making CBD isolate from hemp flower or biomass. The CBD from the flower/biomass is extracted, distilled and refined into an 80-85% CBD hemp oil. This extract then undergoes supercritical CO2 chromatography. This isolates the CBD from other compounds found in the plant, leaving behind a 99.9% pure CBD powder.
CBD isolate can be used as the main ingredient to manufacturing different CBD products or the isolate can be consumed as is. Common ways to consume CBD isolate include dissolving it in a drink like tea, vaporizing, smoking or infusing edibles with it.
Many consumers like CBD isolate because of its cost efficiency and its multiple uses. When you buy CBD isolate, you are only paying for pure CBD. A gram of CBD isolate contains 1000mg so it is the best bang for your buck!
But because of this great product value, there are a lot of counterfeiters. CBD users need to be very aware of the products they consume, whether it is an isolate product or a different CBD product.
When purchasing CBD isolate, it is important to check to see if there’s testing done on the product you’re purchasing. The lab tests will show you if you’re purchasing a clean product. If lab tests aren’t provided or aren’t mentioned, chances are the product isn’t clean and the manufacturers know and don’t want the consumer to be aware. When you buy CBD isolate in the United States, ask for a Certificate of Analysis (COA). If the manufacturer does not have this, it is a clear sign the isolate is coming from an unlicensed farm or out of the country.
Some countries are not held to the high standards that the American farms stay compliant with. Black market manufacturers and foreign manufacturers are advertising CBD isolate on websites like DHgate and Alibaba. The prices can be less than half the price of American made CBD isolate on a wholesale platform. The only reason they can reach such a low price point, is because of the money they save on not having to be compliant or safe for that matter. They don’t have to worry about how they farm the starting material (hemp flower) or how safe their extraction process is. There are many cases of people testing CBD isolate that came from China or similar countries that don’t have a lot of regulation. The results have shown heavy metals, pesticides (from spraying the hemp plant) and extreme amounts of residual solvents (left over chemicals from the extraction process). These farms do not have any restrictions on what they can and can not sell. There is no one checking to see if their product is even safe for humans. It is actually alarming!!!!
My advice on buying CBD isolate is this…..
Buy from a company that is located in the United States. The farms in the United States are held to such high standards, which makes sure the starting material is safe.
Ask for a Certificate of Analysis (COA). You should already be able to find these on the company’s website. This is the most important information for any CBD company. If it is difficult to find, stay away. It should be their due diligence to make sure their customers are informed on what they are consuming.
CBD isolate is a great product. It gives the consumer the option of paying only for pure CBD. It is the only pure product on the market. Tinctures, capsules, salves and gummies all have multiple ingredients. CBD isolate is the best way to get the most for your dollar. There are so many ways to consume it. It is essentially the raw product of CBD. Patients that need CBD isolate should not have to worry about unlicensed companies tricking them into buying an unsafe, unregulated product. I hope this can help CBD users make safer and smarter purchases!
